About us

Insurance Sweden is the industry organisation for insurance companies and occupational pension companies in Sweden. We work to promote favourable operating conditions for our members, strengthen public confidence in the industry and increase awareness of the role of private insurance in society.

Our approximately 50 member companies together account for more than 90 per cent of the Swedish insurance market.

Our work

We represent the industry in dialogue with policymakers, public authorities and other stakeholders in Sweden and at EU level. Together with our members, we analyse legislative proposals, recommend improvements to regulation and contribute expertise to government inquiries.

We also compile industry and market statistics, publish reports and organise conferences and training.

Insurance Sweden is led by CEO Christina Lindenius. Our staff work in law, economic analysis and communication.

International cooperation

Insurance Sweden is a member of Insurance Europe and PensionsEurope and takes an active part in their work. We also engage directly with EU institutions, including the European Commission and the European Parliament.

Subsidiaries and industry cooperation

Through our subsidiaries and cooperation with other organisations, we support services that benefit consumers and the insurance industry.

Min Pension provides individuals with a consolidated overview of their pensions in Sweden. The service is run jointly by the state and pension companies. Visit www.minpension.se.

Larmtjänst works to prevent insurance-related crime and recover stolen insured property. Visit www.larmtjanst.se.

GSR maintains an industry-wide register of insurance claims to help prevent claims from being settled on the basis of incorrect information.

Fullmaktskollen enables individuals and companies to view, sign and revoke powers of attorney relating to life insurance and pensions. The service is jointly owned by Insurance Sweden and the Swedish Insurance Brokers’ Association. Visit www.fullmaktskollen.se.

Independent guidance for consumers

Consumer advice in Sweden is provided by a separate, independent organisation: the Swedish Consumers’ Insurance Bureau (Konsumenternas Försäkringsbyrå).

Insurance Sweden is jointly responsible for the Bureau together with Finansinspektionen, the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, and the Swedish Consumer Agency. The Bureau offers consumers independent information and guidance on insurance matters. Visit www.konsumenternas.se.

Review boards

Insurance Sweden is responsible for several industry-wide review boards that issue opinions on disputes between policyholders and insurance companies. Their opinions provide guidance on matters such as the interpretation of policy terms and claims settlement. Visit www.forsakringsnamnder.se.
